What exactly is a DVD photo slideshow?

A DVD photo slideshow is a video produced from photo images that you can watch on your television via a DVD player. Slideshows are a truly fantastic way to view your photos and it’s the addition of 'Ken Burns' effects, image transitions and fitting background music that really brings your photos to life.

Don’t just take our word for it, take a look at our Demo page to see for yourself just how good your treasured photos could look.

What are 'Ken Burns' effects?

This is the name given to a technique that involves applying zooming and panning motions to your photos which adds a dynamic cinematic effect to the produced slideshow. It's a relatively simplistic technique, yet the results are dramatic and will truly bring your photos to life!

This effect is popularly known as the "Ken Burns effect" after the filmmaker who frequently used the technique in his documentaries.

How long do you hold copies of my photos?

Your CD or memory stick\card is returned with your order and we hold a copy of your images for one month. We do this in case you later decide to re-order your DVD with some adjustments (more or less photos, different image ordering, background music, etc.) After one month, all your images are completely wiped from our system.

We hold a copy of the produced DVD for three months. We do this in case there’s a problem with your DVD (lost\damaged in post or playback issue). Plus, this gives you the opportunity to order further copies in the future, perhaps as a gift for friends or family. After three months has passed, your DVD, including disc label & box images, is completely wiped from our system – further copies can no longer be ordered.

Upon receiving your DVD, you can instruct us to immediately remove your images and all DVD material from our system (details on how to this are included with your shipped order).

How will my photos be kept confidential?

Upon receiving your CD or memory stick\card, your images are copied onto our secure system and access is strictly monitored. Your CD or memory stick\card then remains security sealed in an envelope whilst on our premises until it is returned with your order.

Individual photos need to be checked to ensure they comply with our Terms & Conditions and access is again strictly monitored. Before shipping, the produced DVD is quality checked for playability but obviously the entire DVD cannot be checked (simply not the time!).

Copies of your images and produced DVD material is held on our system for durations as stated above. However, upon receiving your DVD, you can instruct us to immediately remove your images and all associated DVD material from our system (details on how to this are included with your shipped order).

Why should I choose MyPictureLife.co.uk?

There are many companies that offer the production of DVD slideshows but we believe we stand out from the crowd for the following reasons:

  • We’re a family run firm with husband & wife at the helm! This is our business and we’re passionate about maintaining our reputation for professionally producing high quality DVD slideshows. We believe our customer service is 1st class and our feedback confirms this.
  • We’ve chosen to specialise in working with digital images only, no scanning of photos\slides. This has allowed us to allocate all our resources on the production of your DVD.
  • Manually scanning individual photos\slides can be time consuming and increases the order turnaround time. We quote a turnaround of 7-14 days but we usually average less than 7 days.
  • By opting to work with digital images only, we’re able to keep our prices highly competitive.
  • We’ve worked hard to keep the ordering process as straight forward as possible whilst still allowing you the opportunity to fine tune many aspects of your DVD slideshow.
  • Many sites require the downloading of lengthy order forms to complete by hand and our customer feedback indicates that many dislike this approach. Our preference is to allow you to complete your order on-line, simplifying and shortening the ordering experience.

What’s stopping me purchasing one of the many slideshow software packages available myself and creating my own slideshow?

If you have a good spec’d PC with a DVD burner, high quality printer, graphics software are at home using a PC and have plenty of time to experiment; then go for it! You’ll need to source the right slideshow creating software that’s right for your level of expertise and pocket! The finished DVD may not be as professionally produced as something we create, but it will work out cheaper in the long run if you intend to produce many DVD slideshows.

Whilst not a relatively complicated process, producing a quality DVD slideshow with a personalised printed disc label and box is not within the capabilities of all.

We’ve been producing high quality DVD slideshows for years and have vast experience in what’s involved in all aspects of production. You can be assured that your DVD will be of the highest quality and something that you will deeply treasure.
